Waste container castors by the truckload

We make castors for 400 to 1100 L containers in Postojna, from steel coil to packed castor. The presses, the zinc plating line and the assembly lines run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so a full truck or a rush order is a question of scheduling.

ESE, SULO, Weber, Europlast and Green City fit our castors on their containers. We have made castors since 1954 and still change the design where collection crews and container makers run into problems: brake effort, water in the swivel head, jams on the assembly line.

Certified to EN 840-5 and RAL-GZ 951/1. Containers sold in Germany need castors that meet EN 840-5 and the RAL-GZ 951/1 quality requirements. SKZ - Testing GmbH has certified our 160 mm and 200 mm swivel castors to both, in three certificates that cover 32 article numbers. The article numbers, dates and PDFs are on the page SKZ certification of waste container castors. Every castor is tested automatically on the assembly line before it is packed.

The plant is certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and runs partly on its own 1.41 MWp solar plant.

The standard castors and wheels for these containers, 160 and 200 mm, are listed with load, bearing, brake and top plate per article in our catalogue under waste container castors.

Lead time 1 to 2 weeks

Stock types leave the plant within 1 to 2 weeks of the order.

100 % recycled tyres and centres

Rubber treads and PP wheel centres made from 100 % recycled material.

Certified to EN 840-5

SKZ certificates to EN 840-5 and RAL-GZ 951/1 for 32 swivel castor versions, the standards municipal tenders ask for.

One plant, one price

Pressing, plating and assembly in one plant keep transport and margins between suppliers out of the price.

Automated assembly line for waste container castors

Why container makers buy from LIV

Container manufacturers across Europe have bought their castors from us for decades.

Pressing, plating and assembly happen in one plant in Slovenia. That keeps the lead time short for European customers, and repeat orders come off the same tools as the first one.

Zinc plating in house

We zinc plate and passivate forks and top plates Cr6+-free on our own line, 10 to 15 µm.

Short lead times

No waiting for an outside plater or assembler between production steps.

Automated pressing and assembly

Automatic lines press the housings and assemble the castors, so every castor in a batch is built the same way.

Low PAH content

The rubber treads have a low PAH content. Test values are available on request.

Recycled material in our waste container castors

The rubber treads and the standard PP wheel centres of our waste container castors are made from 100 % recycled material, and every batch can be traced back to its source.

Solid rubber tyres stacked before assembly

Recycled rubber treads

The treads are made from 100 % recycled rubber from branded car tyres.

Black plastic wheel centres for waste container wheels

Recycled PP wheel centres

We mould the standard wheel centres in our own plant from 100 % recycled polypropylene from the automotive industry.

Traceable materials

Every material in the wheel can be traced back to its source. That helps when a tender or an audit asks for proof of recycled content.

The swivel head

Three details of the swivel head matter on the assembly line and in the street. Water drains out of the head, the brake pedal needs little force, and the hole pattern in the top plate suits automatic assembly.

Water drainage
The swivel head is shaped so rain water drains out instead of standing on the bearing. Less standing water means slower corrosion and a longer life in the street.
Short brake pedal
The pedal is short and engages at a small angle. Stacked containers can stand closer together during transport, so more of them fit on a truck.
Brake effort
Locking and releasing the brake takes little force. Over a day of collection rounds that is less strain for the crew.
Top plate holes
The hole pattern in the top plate is designed for automatic assembly lines at the container maker and reduces jams on the line.

Castors to your container

Because we make every part ourselves, we can change the wheel, brake or top plate to fit your container and your assembly line.

Cost over the life of the container

A LIV castor can cost more per piece than the cheapest import. Over the life of a container it usually costs less: fewer replacements, less maintenance and fewer complaints from the municipality.

What to look for in a waste container castor

Design

Quiet running, a short brake pedal and a swivel head that drains water. These details decide how a castor behaves after a few years in the street.

Durability

Cr6+-free zinc plating of 10 to 15 µm on the steel parts. Fewer replacements mean lower maintenance cost for the container owner.

Environment

Rubber treads and PP wheel centres from 100 % recycled material, traceable to the source.

Safety

A brake that locks with little force, so crews do not kick or lift containers to stop them rolling.

Standards

Swivel castors SKZ certified to DIN EN 840-5:2020-06 and RAL-GZ 951/1:2023-08, the requirements municipal tenders refer to. Certificates and article numbers.
