Surface Treatments
Zinc plating and powder coating of steel parts
Surface treatment next to the press shop
Zinc 10 to 15 µm
Up to 240 h in the salt spray test.
Powder up to 100 µm
More than 500 h in the salt spray test.
Parts you supply
We plate and coat steel parts made elsewhere.
In-house testing
Salt spray chamber to ISO 9227 for test pieces up to 1500 x 800 x 660 mm.
Zinc plating in short
How we zinc plate
Parts are cleaned and pickled, activated, zinc electroplated and passivated.
Each step is monitored, so the zinc layer is even across the whole batch.
Rack line and barrel line
The rack line handles 1,100 kg per hour and suits larger parts such as castor forks and rims. The barrel line handles 1,000 kg per hour of small parts.
When a part needs a thicker zinc layer, our partner hot-dip galvanises it.
Recipes per part
Bath and passivation are set for the part and the corrosion class you need.
Cr6+-free
Blue passivation based on Cr(III), without hexavalent chromium.
Checked per batch
Layer thickness and appearance are checked before parts move on.
Short lead time
Plating happens next to the press shop, so parts do not travel between suppliers.
Powder coating
The powder line
The conveyor takes up to 80 kg per metre at a line speed of up to 4 m/min. At 1.5 m/min that is 7,200 kg of parts per hour.
Maximum part size is 1500 x 800 x 700 mm.
How we powder coat
Parts are cleaned and pre-treated, the powder is applied electrostatically and then cured in the oven.
We coat with polyester and epoxy-polyester powders, in gloss, semi-gloss or matt and in any RAL colour.
Indoor and outdoor
Polyester powders for parts that stand outside in all weather.
Zinc plus powder
Zinc as the first layer and powder on top, for parts that must not rust where the coating is chipped.
Large batches
Fast colour changes, and powder flow, gun settings and conveyor speed monitored and adjusted during the run.
Powder reuse
95 % of the powder is recovered and reused, and waste heat from the oven heats the building.
Salt spray testing
Salt spray test to ISO 9227
We test plated and coated parts in our own salt spray chamber, and we can test your parts too.
Samples are cleaned and exposed to salt fog at 35 °C to ISO 9227:2023. We record corrosion by visual inspection and measurement at fixed intervals.
- Maximum test piece: 1500 x 800 x 660 mm
- Test standard: ISO 9227:2023
Surface treatment in figures
240 h zinc, 500 h powder
Salt spray resistance measured in our own chamber: zinc up to 240 h, powder more than 500 h.
Shorter lead time
Plating and coating in the same plant as pressing, with more flexibility in planning.
ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
Quality management to ISO 9001 since 1995, environmental management to ISO 14001 since 2000.
1,000 t a month
Plating capacity of more than 1,000 t of steel parts a month for high-volume orders.
We also make the part
Stamped, deep-drawn and welded steel parts to your drawing, plated or coated in the same plant.
