Founded in 1954 in Postojna, Slovenia, LIV Systems has grown from a local metalworking company into one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of castor wheels, rims, and precision metal components.

With over 70 years of experience, we’ve built a reputation for combining cutting-edge innovation with a commitment to sustainability.

Through continuous investment in advanced automated production and assembly lines, surface treatments, and environmentally friendly practices, LIV Systems consistently delivers high-quality products according to the needs of our customers at competitive prices.

Under the visionary leadership of Franc Gregorčič & Floris van Konijnenburg, LIV Systems embarked on a transformative journey in 2018, modernising our production facilities and doubling our turnover.

With a new €8.6 million investment planned for 2023-2025, supported by the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Plan, we aim to further enhance our manufacturing capabilities, increase productivity, and improve energy efficiency.

By embracing solar energy and automation, LIV Systems is reducing its carbon footprint while setting new standards for quality and durability in the industry.

A Brief History of LIV Systems

2024

70 years of excellency

In 2024 we proudly celebrate our 70th. Marking seven decades of excellence, we are hosting a series of celebratory events to honour our long history, while also underway implementing an €8.6 million investment package for 2024-2025 to continue our journey of growth, sustainability, and innovation.

2023

New galvanic plant

We enhanced our in-house electrogalvanic and passivation methods by the addition of a new galvanic plant. This upgrade strengths our independence and allows us to maintain stringent control over the quality and durability of our surface treatments.

2022

Investment

In 2022 we pledged to bolster LIV System’s productivity and fortify its long-term market competitiveness, with a keen focus on sustainable practices, decarbonization, and business digitalization. For that goal we secured a significant investment of EUR 8,750,338.51. It has secured EUR 2,614,545.76 in funding through the Recovery and Resilience Plan, under the C3K2 initiative.

The project commenced on May 20, 2022, and is slated for completion by May 19, 2025.

We also introduced 200mm castor to the market, a result of in-house development, which adheres to eco-design standards and offers customization options, aligning with contemporary consumer demands.

2021

New director Damjan Švigelj

On 01-01-2021 Damjan Švigelj was appointment as director of LIV Systems

Damjan Švigelj has 20+ years of experience with a successful track record in various industries, from metal products, chemical industry and injection moulding, as well as B2B and B2C oriented businesses.

The former managing directors, Franc Gregorčič and Floris van Konijnenburg, will continue to support LIV Systems' development as advisors and both will remain as shareholders. With the installation of Damjan as director, we fully believe we will achieve our operational excellence goals.

2018

LIV Kolesa becomes LIV Systems

Slovenian industrial company LIV Kolesa, known for its production of castors and wheelbarrows, got a brighter future as Franc Gregorčič, head of the Plastoform Group, and his Dutch business partner Floris van Konijnenburg became the new owners.

2018 also marks a production landmark with the manufacture of the 10 millionth K10 generation of container castor wheel, underscoring the company's extensive scale and capability.

2015

Financial reconstruction

Comprehensive financial restructuring unfolded to reinforce the company's enduring sustainability and robust economic foundation.

2011

New generation of K10 container rollers and wheels

2011 marks the debut of the new generation of K10 waste container castors, reflecting LIV's unwavering dedication to consistent product innovation.

2009

New warehouse and production hall

We established a modern warehouse optimising the storage of finished and semi-finished products.

Expansion marked by a new production hall and the procurement of a state-of-the-art 400-ton transfer press, amplifying manufacturing strength.

2000

ISO 14001 & Facility for Wastewater

We proudly achieved the ISO 14001 certification for the environmental management system, highlighting LIV's commitment to green practices.

2000 also marks a development of a top-tier treatment facility for wastewater, stemming from the galvanising plant and wheelbarrow paint shop.

1998

LIV’s privatisation

Finalisation of LIV's privatisation took place, ushering in a fresh chapter of corporate governance.

1997

Transformation into a public limited company

LIV's transformation into a public limited company was finalised, marking a pivotal juncture in its evolution with reinforced public faith and organisational framework

ISO 9001

Earning the esteemed ISO 9001 certification, showcasing LIV's adherence to global quality standards.

1991

Venturing into international markets

In the face of the dissolution of Yugoslavia, LIV displayed unmatched adaptability by venturing aggressively into international markets.

1980

New galvanising plant & 320-ton press

Modernising operations with a new galvanising plant and the addition of a 320-ton transfer press, signifying technological progression.

1975

New warehouse

LIV secured a significant investment in the infrastructure with a 6,000 m2 warehouse and an extended production line for plastic rollers and wheels, catering to diverse sectors.

1971

Launch of the production hall

Launch of a state-of-the-art production hall and the beginning of wheelbarrow production, symbolising growth and diversification.

1961

Plastic injection

Industry-first initiative with the introduction of plastic injection, expanding LIV's manufacturing horizons.

1959

Production of foundational components

Kickstarting the production of foundational components - rollers and wheels, laying the groundwork for manufacturing milestones.

1954

The Beginning

Established by the Postojna District's People's Committee, LIV's humble origins were marked by unconventional funding methods, including selling a car to acquire its initial machinery. The year culminated with a passionate 35-member team engaged in various crafts, from foundry and joinery to intricate manual and mechanical metalworking, laying the foundation for LIV's ascent to industrial prominence.

Five million pieces

We manufacture over 5 million transport wheels and castors per year. Our wheels are durable, of world-class quality and they all spin to the satisfaction of millions of loyal users around the world.

OE companies

Besides castors, wheelbarrows, rims and other products, we supply many Original Equipment (OE) companies, active in intra-logistic container solutions, waste bin manufacturing, food processing and agriculture.

Environmentally Friendly Future is The Only Future

Harnessing Solar Power for a Greener Future

As part of our commitment to reducing carbon emissions, LIV Systems has installed 2 solar power plants—SE LIV1 and SE LIV2—with a capacity of 2x 795 kWp. These installations contribute to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, cutting CO2 equivalent by 2x 416.61 tons per year.

Supported by the European Union and the Republic of Slovenia, this investment marks a major step in our mission to power our operations sustainably. The total co-financed investment amounts to €140,959, enabling us to harness solar energy for a cleaner future.

Recycling for a Sustainable Tomorrow

At LIV Systems, recycling plays a pivotal role in our manufacturing process. The tires we source use 80% recycled materials in our rubber tires and 35% recycled plastics in our castor wheel production.

By prioritising the reuse of materials, we contribute to reducing waste and preserving resources, all while ensuring the strength and durability of our products. This eco-conscious approach reinforces our dedication to building a greener, more sustainable future.

Waste Heat and Energy Recycling for Efficiency

Efficiency is at the heart of our operations, and LIV Systems maximises energy usage through the recycling of waste heat from our powder coating processes. This approach reduces building heating costs by 30% and cuts energy costs for process water heating by 25%.

In addition, 95% of powder coating material is reused, minimising waste and conserving resources. Our wastewater from galvanising processes is 100% treated in-house, with the recycled water used for cooling, further reducing energy costs by 30%.
