Steel rims and wheels, 4 to 16 inch

Steel rims from Postojna

We press, weld, turn and coat steel rims from 4 to 16 inch in our plant in Postojna, Slovenia, where LIV Systems has worked since 1954. On request we mount tyres of the major brands, so the wheel arrives ready to fit.

Most of our rim customers are OEMs of agricultural, airport and industrial equipment who order the same wheel year after year.

Vlukon, a brand under LIV Systems, designs and sells wheels with steel rims for agriculture, electric vehicles, mobile homes and industry, and develops custom wheels with OEMs.

Rims, tyres and hubs come from one supplier, so one drawing and one contact cover the complete wheel.

Volume for OEMs

High volumes of pressed rims on short notice, from automated presses.

One contact for the wheel

Rim, tyre, hub and bearing from one supplier, on one drawing.

Off-highway use

Wheels for farm, forestry, airport and industrial machines that run on rough ground.

Automated assembly

Automated pressing and assembly keep the price per wheel down in series production.

Rims with bolt holes

Rims with bolt holes for fitting to a hub, designed and made in Europe, in sizes from 4 to 16 inch.

The offset (ET) and hole pattern are made to suit your hub. We deliver by the truckload or in small, custom batches, as bare rims or as complete wheels with tyres of the major brands.

Send us your hub data or a drawing and we will propose a rim.

Positive and negative offset

Rims with positive or negative ET, so the wheel sits where your machine needs it.

4 to 16 inch

Sizes from 4 to 16 inch for agricultural tools, industrial vehicles and trailers.

Truckloads or small batches

Full trucks for series production, small batches for special machines.

Lead time

Delivery in weeks, or in days for items in stock.

Red steel rim with ball bearing hub

Rims with hub

Rims with a hub for bearings, designed and made in Europe, from 4 to 16 inch.

You choose the hub length, bearing type, keyway, drive and colour. Inside the hub we fit any bearing configuration: bushes, ball bearings, extra bearings, water-tight seals, grease nipples, keyways for traction and end caps.

We also supply the complete wheel with a tyre of the major brands mounted.

Since 1954

We have pressed rims and wheels for agricultural and industrial machines for decades.

Hub to your drawing

Hub length, bore, keyway and bearing seat made to your specification.

Bearings and seals

Bushes or ball bearings, with seals and grease nipples where the wheel runs in mud or water.

Colour

Powder coated in your RAL colour, up to 100 µm.

Tyres mounted on delivery

We mount and balance the tyre on the rim before delivery, so the wheel goes straight onto the machine.

Range

Rims, tyres and wheel components

Rims, tyres and wheel components, from stock or within days to weeks.

Flanged Rims

Flanged rims, also called stud-centred wheels, are made for high loads and higher speeds.

Sizes from 5 to 12 inch, to ETRTO standards, with a choice of PCD. Used on trailers and agricultural equipment; fixing to customer specification.

Rims with Hub

Rims with a hub suit simple axle configurations. The hub can take anything from a nylon bush to sealed ball bearings with lubrication.

For agricultural and hobby machines in sizes such as 4.50-6 and 5.50-8 for hay equipment, and 2.10-4, 3.75-6 and 7.00-8 for garden machines. Keyways and shafts, pulse welding in a protected atmosphere, and options for disc or drum brakes.

High-capacity rims

High-capacity rims are pressed from high-strength steel up to 6 mm thick, for super-elastic tyres or pneumatic tyres with a high ply rating. They are used on airport ground support equipment and industrial cleaning machines.

Finishes: zinc plating, powder coating in your RAL colour, or chrome plating. Suitable for temperatures down to -40 °C.

Tyres

Pneumatic, solid and super-elastic tyres for most applications.

We hold tyres in a 4,000 m² warehouse and buy directly from the major tyre makers. That stock lets us build special wheels outside the standard range without waiting for the tyre.

Puncture-proof tyres

Tirefill fills the tyre with polyurethane foam and keeps the load capacity on rocky ground. Offroad and Mining X-tra Heavy Duty sealants protect against punctures in agriculture and industry.

For garden equipment, semi-pneumatic tyres run like an air tyre without the risk of a puncture.

Wheel components

Anti-wrap guards, sealing systems, stub axles, drum brakes, hub protectors and caps, special shafts, castors and seals, in pressed metal or moulded plastic.

Ask for the parts you need with the wheel, so they arrive with it.

Where our rims run

Hay tedder with steel rim wheels in a field

Rims for hay tedders, rakes, ploughs, harvesting and grassland machines, and for greenhouse equipment.

They carry heavy loads on soft ground and are easy to fit to the machine. The surface treatment is chosen for a life outdoors.

Airport baggage and freight trailers

Rims for ground support equipment (GSE): baggage carts, cargo dollies and aircraft stairs.

They are built for continuous use on the apron, often with super-elastic tyres on high-capacity rims.

Forklift in a warehouse aisle

Rims for forklifts, transport systems and lifts, where a wheel failure stops production.

Box trailers at a trailer dealer

Rims for trailers and caravans, with SKF bearings and AkzoNobel coatings, made for long distances and all weather.

Lawn mower wheels on grass

Rims for lawn mowers and compact tractors used in gardens and on golf courses.

Several diameters and axle connections, powder coated against wet grass and fertiliser.

Forestry trailer loaded with logs

Rims for forestry machines, with anti-slip grips, reinforced edges and valve protectors.

Custom rims step by step

We make rims to your drawing for agricultural machines and special equipment. These are the steps from drawing to finished rim.

Design

Our engineers start from your machine: load, speed, axle and tyre.

They design the rim in CAD and check it against your technical specification before any tool is made.

Stack of steel sheet blanks

Material

We press our rims from steel by Thyssenkrupp and ArcelorMittal.

Sheet thickness and steel grade are chosen for the load: up to 6 mm high-strength steel for high-capacity rims.

Hydraulic press forming a round steel part

Presswork

The rim halves and discs are pressed on our own presses. Repeat orders come off the same tools, so rim number 10,000 has the same shape as number one.

Robot welding a steel rim

Welding

Rim halves, discs and hubs are welded together, with pulse welding in a protected atmosphere for hubs.

Forming tool on a production machine

Turning

Hubs and bearing seats are turned to the dimensions on your drawing, so the bearing fits and the wheel runs true.

Surface treatment

Powder coating in any RAL colour, zinc plating, or hot-dip galvanising by our partner.

Operator powder coating steel rims

Materials we use

Rims for farm and industrial machines take shocks, mud and salt for years. That is why we use steel from Thyssenkrupp and ArcelorMittal, SKF bearings and AkzoNobel powder coatings.

The same suppliers on every order keep the result predictable from one batch to the next, for customers in agriculture, industry, automotive and horticulture.

Yellow powder-coated rims on the line

Powder coating

We powder coat rims in any RAL colour, with a layer of up to 100 µm and more than 500 hours in the salt spray test.

Molten zinc bath

Hot-dip galvanising

For rims on agricultural and industrial vehicles that stay outside or run through slurry and salt, customers often choose hot-dip galvanising. Our partner galvanises these rims for us.
