3 STOP castor: braking a waste container from any side
The 3 STOP castor in short
The 3 STOP is a brake castor for 660 and 1100 L four-wheel waste containers with three brake pedals instead of one. The pedals are spaced evenly around the wheel, so one of them always points outwards, whatever direction the castor has swivelled to. It fits the same top plate as a standard brake castor.
Why a standard brake castor slows collection down
Most 660 and 1100 L containers in Europe run on two swivel castors and two brake castors (about 90 % of them, in our experience). After the container has been moved, the single brake pedal often ends up under the container.
The operator then pushes or pulls the container again to reach it, or leaves it unbraked. That costs time at every stop, strains the operator and leaves containers rolling on slopes.
How the 3 STOP works
Three brake pedals sit at equal spacing around the wheel. However the container has been manoeuvred, at least one pedal is within reach of the operator’s foot.
Engaging and releasing the brake takes less force than on a standard brake castor. No training is needed, and the castor uses the same mounting as standard castors, so containers already in service can be retrofitted.
Field test with Publikus
We tested the 3 STOP with Publikus, one of the largest waste collection companies in Slovenia, on their own containers and routes.
“Our operators simply love the 3 STOP. We intend to equip all our new containers with these castors and even retrofit existing ones. With less time needed for collection, we can cover more areas in the same time, which is crucial for us.”
Igor Petek, Managing Director, Publikus
Availability
The 3 STOP is patent pending and available for 660 and 1100 L containers in 200 mm, with the wheel options of our standard brake castor.
It was developed within our €8.75 million investment programme in new technology and equipment (2022 to 2025). Ask us for samples for a field test with your own crews.
